Old PvP-Only Character Making
I liked the original system much better than the current one for a few reasons
1) You started with 8 skills already (for beginners that dont have enough)
2) It came with pre-set builds that could be altered to be really good, maybe if it was re-implemented template submissions could be accepted, and best builds are put on list.
3) You could choose skills before it was made, so you don't have to make the character and realize you don't have the skill (or maybe im the only one who does that)
I would like only constructive criticism and no flaming please /signed or /notsigned
EDIT:
After reading some suggestions I will add stuff to the list.
4) When making a character you can choose one of your skill templates to use.
5) Same armor and weapon crafting system as now will stay, but you can make it before you make the character, but change it whenever you want.
6) There will be different tabs on the screen for pre-set skill selection. Propechies, Factions, Nightfall, Multigame. In the multigame there will be sets for all 4, just proph and factions, only nf and eotn, etc.

We'd need more current PVP builds for one thing. But most people have stuff unlocked, and so you don't need that stuff. If they had a quick mode for the newer PVP making and a custom mode or something for the old type, it would be cool.

The point is, when you had the old system, people without many elites could run semi decent builds (of course, excluding the paladin template). Nowadays, nubs still go to pvp, but usually only have the 5 skills that come with the class. It would provide quite a nice change to all the charge warriors in ra...

Would maybe need some skills un-nerfed for build variety first.

Ummm... So you're argument is "Make the game IMBA and then I'll sign"? Seriously, the game is getting closer to balanced and you want to throw it all away for "build variety" (aka overpowered metas).

The only problem is there are 4 different games with 4 different skill lists. Most of the good builds require 2 or more games. How do you cater to people with only Proph? Only Factions?
I like the sentiment behind the idea, but right now I don't see a practical way to put it back in the game.
/notsigned unless someone posts a way around what I said.

The main problem with the old PvP set-up was the fact that you could only choose 2 weapon sets and one armor set. You'd be unable to craft all those +10vsX shields, and if you wanted to switch out runes/armors you'd have to reroll your entire character. Now if you just wanted preset templates back but keep the current interface as it is; I'd sign that.

I don't ask for imbalanced skills. You must be an idiot to think I did. What I asked is to make all the never-used skills, useable again. Some of them perhaps reworked from the ground up as needed.

i'm not sure about this
a new player doesn't really starts PvP'ing immediatly (don't shoot me if i'm wrong)
i think a new player starts with PvE first to understand the skills and such
but still it's not a bad idea to give PvP chars a little boost to get them kind of battle ready

1) You started with 8 skills already (for beginners that dont have enough)
.Skill unlock packs.
2) It came with pre-set builds that could be altered to be really good, maybe if it was re-implemented template submissions could be accepted, and best builds are put on list.
.Skill templates.
3) You could choose skills before it was made, so you don't have to make the character and realize you don't have the skill (or maybe im the only one who does that)
.Skill unlock packs.
4) When making a character you can choose one of your skill templates to use.
.Ask friends and forums for templates. Loneliness in a game is something horrible.
5) Same armor and weapon crafting system as now will stay, but you can make it before you make the character, but change it whenever you want.
.Why to? IT doens't matter when you make the item, as long as you make it before entering battle. To make items with upgrades you don't have unlucked? Item unlock pack, then.
6) There will be different tabs on the screen for pre-set skill selection. Propechies, Factions, Nightfall, Multigame. In the multigame there will be sets for all 4, just proph and factions, only nf and eotn, etc.
.Skill templates again.
The pest is something to remeber and learn from. The future is where we are going to.
The new system is better than the old already.

I see no problem with taking a little of the past and mixing it with the new. History is studying the past to learn for the future. Bring back the 8 skills to start and offer out the templates in character creation (yes, I know I could go explore PvXwiki and find stuff there too). Don't get rid of the profession changing, armor/weapon crafting (creating) and might be on the right track.

If that's your idea, what's the point of buying multiple campaigns then, if Anet is just going to cater to the people with 1 or 2 campaigns? We shouldn't have to keep the game experience lacking for those people with all campaigns because some people haven't bought them all.

Skill Unlock packs cost MONEY, and not every beginner, heck not even experience players are going to spend 10 bucks to get skills.
Skill templates need to be made or someone needs to give them to you. Sorry, but sometimes beginners don't have people in the game that can help them.

But if you allow the old system, there would be NO need for the packs.
It would be like giving things for free.
Getting free stuff is cool. Asking for free stuff is naive.
For begginers with no friends, there could be an NPC giving starting templates as whispers:
- Talk to High Priest Zhang.
:New dialog option: I'd like to receive some starting builds:
->New lists
:Choose profession. Choose build.
-> NPC whispers the build to the player.
